Wishbone Ash was formed by West Country musicians
Martin Turner and Steve Upton, who arrived in London in 1969 to
embark on their musical journey. Intent on creating a musical
sound that was rich in texture and melody, Martin Turner
envisaged the band’s innovative harmony-guitar hallmark and
guitarists Ted Turner and Andy Powell were recruited via a now
legendary Melody Maker advert. The partnership of the original
line-up of Wishbone Ash forged a unique musical identity that
would produce some of rock music's best loved works and
influence numerous successful bands and result in millions of
album sales and concert attendances. Wishbone Ash would become
one of the most enduring and best loved British rock acts and
its name synonymous with high quality guitar-driven melodic rock
music.
Over four decades later, the enduring music of
the classic marks of Wishbone Ash continues to delight audiences
worldwide through both live performances and a rich legacy of
recorded work that continues to be enjoyed by fans old and new.
Classic album releases such as Argus, Pilgrimage, There’s the
Rub, New England and Live Dates defined the Wishbone Ash sound
and have touched the hearts of several generations of music
fans. As lead vocalist and key creative force, founding original
member Martin Turner was central to the critical and commercial
success of Wishbone Ash’s most revered albums, with his
passionate vocal delivery, songwriting ability, keen melodic
sense and production values being a key ingredient in the
definitive Wishbone Ash sound. Martin Turner continues to
perform the band’s best loved works with his current line-up,
which features guitarists Danny Willson and Misha Nikolic, and
drummer Tim Brown and remains faithful to the original Wishbone
Ash blueprint.
In recent years Martin
Turner has delighted audiences worldwide with its performances
of material from the classic periods of Wishbone Ash’s history,
with concert appearances in the UK, Germany, Austria,
Switzerland, Norway, Holland, Spain, Greece, Mexico, Brazil,
Japan, the USA and Canada. Performances have been captured on a
series of acclaimed live CD and DVD releases. Martin Turner
looks back fondly on his touring activities since his return to
the live stage: “I have had a wonderful time over the past few
years rediscovering the wider Wishbone Ash catalogue and taking
this to the people. When I go to see an artist live, I want to
hear the songs as I remember them from the records and I believe
that is true of the Wishbone Ash audience too.”
In 2012 Martin Turner also published his personal
memoirs in the critically acclaimed autobiographical book No
Easy Road – My Life and Times with Wishbone Ash, documenting the
defining years of one of the UK’s best loved rock bands as well
as his personal life journey within music.
4th September 2015 saw the release of Martin
Turner’s long awaited new studio album “Written in the Stars”.
Written and recorded with his touring musicians and other
collaborators, “Written in the Stars“ is described by Martin
Turner as “a guitar-based set of songs which represents an
extension of the Wishbone Ash legacy, with an emphasis on the
melodic qualities that the classic line-ups of the band were
known for.” Music industry insiders have already heralded the
album as “the finest collection of new ‘Wishbone’ songs in over
three decades” and “the album Wishbone Ash never made”.
Written in the Stars - Live Dates 2015/16 sees
Martin Turner moving positively forwards with a show that
introduces brand new music from Written in the Stars that sits
comfortably alongside stage favourites and classic album cuts
from the extensive Wishbone Ash repertoire.

Corky Laing is best known as the
drummer of the legendary bands Mountain (1969-) and
West, Bruce & Laing (1973-75). Mountain toured and
recorded on and off until 2010. In the late 70s Corky
released his solo album “Making it on the Streets” that
is often cited as an overlooked pioneer of AOR. In the
early eighties Corky recorded with an indie band called
the Mix and at the end of 1990s he got together with
Noel Redding (Jimi Hendrix’s Experience) and Eric
Schenkman (Spin Doctors) to form the band Cork.
In the 90s Corky worked for
several years as the vice president, A&R, of Polygram
Records, Canada. During that time he produced bands like
Men Without Hats and Voivod. He also had his own radio
show, Under the Rock, in Canada, has published an
anecdotal road stories –book, Stick it! and has his
one-man show, The Best Seat in the House, a humorous
autobiographical production that combines storytelling
and music.

Corky has been busy with Playing God: The Rock Opera – a
critically acclaimed collaboration with two Finnish
philosophers. He performs frequently and in 2014 he was

Zoë and the band have come
right to the fore of the British Blues Scene as a
result of an intensely busy, exciting and creative three
years. Their latest CD, a live album 'I'll Be Yours
Tonight’ (Jun 2105) is their fourth release in three
years. It follows hard on the heels of the acclaimed
studio albums 'Exposed' and 'The Blues Don't Scare Me',
both of which generated a series of awards and
nominations including Runner-Up for ‘Best Band’ in the
2015 British Blues Awards, plus Runner-Up for Zoë in the
2014 & 2015 British Blues Awards.
Their exciting
live set is based around the band's rootsy originals;
featuring strong catchy riffs, interesting arrangements
and exciting grooves, providing the perfect vehicle for
Zoë's yearning, passionate and commanding vocal style,
and Rob's unmistakable touch and flow on guitar. The
highly accomplished rhythm section of Pete
Whittaker-Hammond organ, and Paul Robinson-drums (Nina
Simone, Van Morrison, Paul McCartney to name a few)
bring massive musical authority with the ability to push
the music in unpredictable and exciting directions.
Zoë has made a considerable impact in a very short
space of time and is one of those new artists that have
added a fresh approach and vibrancy to the thriving UK
blues scene. |

London-based Albany Down are
a contemporary rock band with influences ranging from
classic acts like Led Zeppelin and Thunder to modern
bands such as The Black Keys and Clutch. They
combine a vintage rock-blues sensitivity with a
contemporary aggressive energy.
Albany Down are Paul
Muir on
vocals, guitarist Paul
Turley, drummer Donna
Peters and
bassistBilly
Dedman and
they have already recorded two albums with award-winning
producer Greg Haver (Manic Street Preachers, INME, Super
Furry Animals).
“These guys are really going somewhere; make sure they
take you with them!" –
Paul Jones, BBC Radio 2
The band is a hard-working,
road-tested outfit, which has been well received at
various UK festivals including the Maryport
International Rock and Blues Festival; The Great British
Rhythm and Blues Festival (Colne); and The Great British
Rock and Blues Festival (Skegness); as well as at venues
like Barfly Camden and the legendary 100 Club.
In 2014, they toured the UK
supporting New Jersey’s Southside Johnny and The Asbury
Jukes, which included the highlight of their year when
they played at the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire. This
was followed by appearances at festivals in Belgium and
the Netherlands before a very successful tour of Germany
with The Brew.
Blues Rock Review offered a
fair assessment of both the band and their 2011 debut
album: “South
of the City” is a solid debut album from Albany Down and
they will be an interesting band to watch develop in the
coming years”. The
album clearly showcased what the band are capable of –
ranging from the superbly arranged “Mercy” to the
low-down dirty, slide-led blues epic of the title track.
Their formidable second
album, “Not
Over Yet”, released in
2013, is full of their strongest songs, lingering
melodies and great musicianship. And where vocalist
Paul Muir could previously have been compared to the
likes of Paul Rodgers, he stamps his own personality on
this album, while guitarist Paul Turley produces a
virtuoso impassioned performance. Traditionally a
band’s second album is regarded as being problematical
but Albany Down turned that notion on its head.
Their live show never
disappoints. The band run on pure adrenalin,
unrelenting energy and raw emotion and soon have any
crowd entranced. The music is based on thunderous
guitar riffs and pounding drums juxtaposed with soulful,
soaring, emotionally-charged ballads.
Rock blogger Neil Mach
probably got it right, when he recently described the
band; “As
hot as volcanic ash and yet as cool as snow slippers.”
“Not Over Yet” is an aptly
titled album and an accurate barometer of a band on the
up-escalator currently tearing up venues around the UK
and Europe. Having already generated over 7,500
Facebook fans, the band are due to start work on their
third studio album in 2015.
Both Albany Down albums,
“South of The City” (2011) and “Not Over Yet” (2013) are
available for download on iTunes and Amazon.
“Albany Down is the new voice of British rock music.
A blend of contemporary rock and blues – with added
brilliance on top. See for yourself.”

The Luke Doherty Band - Luke was born on 29th March
1994, in Newport, Gwent. He had an interest in music at
a very young age.
Although no one in his family play an instrument, he was
determined to learn to play something, and at the age of
5 he started playing piano, but didn’t like it. He then
asked to play the drums but was told by a drum teacher
he was way too young and to wait a couple of years. He
then settled on a 1/2 size acoustic guitar which he had
to give up after 3 months due to medical reasons. At
71/2 he was nagging his parents again to learn guitar,
so they bought him a second hand 1/2 size electric
guitar and a second hand amp and he has never looked
back. He instantly became hooked on blues, intently
watching any blues musicians he could find on TV or DVD.
Although being faced with a few serious medical problems
Luke has been determined to pursue his passion. He
visited Cheethams School of Music in Manchester and
Guitar X in London for some advice, but to be told that
he was way too young to proceed with his exams in
electric guitar, and they said that they had never come
across this situation before. His parents took him to
jam sessions in local pubs so that he could play Blues
with other people and at the age of 12 he was asked to
open a 3 day Music Festival, on the main stage, with
some adults form local bands. In 2009 he supported Buddy
Whittington in the Globe in Cardiff and has since
supported Buddy on a few occasions. In 2012 he was very
fortunate to meet the ultimate man of Blues BB King.
Luke has now played at many Festivals and Blues Clubs,
and many more are planned in 2015
